: to move toward one point and join together : to come together and meet
Jesus is the convergence of Heaven and Earth. He is the place in which the fullness of God steps into humanity and in Him we are invited to see the world through a whole new perspective, one of “Holy Imagination”. This new outlook is radically different than the one offered to us by the world because it refuses to be content with seeing the world as rotten or beyond healing. This new way to see the world is not one in which we ignore reality and pretend like evil and injustice do not exist but rather we see reality as it was always intended and live as agents of the Heaven right in the middle of the Hell around us. We are graciously invited to see the convergence of Heaven and Earth everywhere! This new perspective is one animated by Holy Spirit who enables our eyes to see the glory of God and the hope of the Gospel around every turn, under every rock, and in the eyes of all the people we meet.
The pessimistic out look on life of King Solomon in the book of Ecclesiastes is not the outlook we are called to adopt in Christ. We must abandon the notion that the world is hopeless and live with the Holy Imagination of The Spirit that dares to see Christ in the Chaos; the divine in the dirt, the miracle in the mess. This is so much more than “a glass half full” mentality! This is “a glass running over” mentality! Heaven is colliding with earth!
Sometimes it can be hard to see it and that’s why The Spirit always partners with our weakness and renews our minds to behold a world bursting at the seams with the glory of God. I just want to encourage you to trust Jesus for His perspective. Allow the Spirit to open your eyes to see the significance and glory of God in everything! It is in Jesus that all of creation is held together, and Paul said in Him we live, move, and have our being! He is saturating creation with His presence and who are we not to partake of such a beautiful gift? The gift that Christ was revealing in the sacrament of the Lord’s supper, which is that He is present even in something as ridiculously mundane as bread and wine!
Dare to see the Christ in the world around you! Live with Holy Spirit and the offer to see the world through Holy Imagination.
Through whom, to whom, and for whom all things exist!
